MaCoPiX Installation Guide

This guide explains how to install MaCoPiX mascots using either a mass install (recommended) or individual sitter install.

Important note: MaCoPiX has a tendency to crash. This is normal — don’t stress if it closes unexpectedly.

Strong recommendation: Use the .tar.gz method whenever possible. The .tar.gz package includes a launcher menu that lets you choose which characters you want to add, making it safer and easier than installing individual sitters.

Running Multiple Sitters

MaCoPiX supports running multiple sitters at the same time. To do this, simply open multiple instances of MaCoPiX.

Each running instance can load its own mascot or launcher menu, which lets you have multiple at a time!

Mass Install (Recommended)

  1. Download the .tar.gz file from the mascot page.
  2. Make sure MaCoPiX is installed on your system. If you don’t have it yet, download it from the official website:
    https://rosegray.sakura.ne.jp/macopix/dl-e.html
  3. Launch MaCoPiX. On first launch, you may see the message:
"No menu files are installed! Please install one menu file at least."
  4. To install the mascot pack, either:
    • Drag and drop the .tar.gz file directly into the MaCoPiX window, or
    • Use the menu:
Install > Launcher Menu [User] and select the .tar.gz file.
  5. Once installed, the launcher menu will appear and allow you to choose which mascots you want to add.

Individual Sitter Install

Installing individual sitters is similar, but uses .MCPX files instead of a .tar.gz archive.

  1. Place your .MCPX files somewhere safe on your computer.
It is strongly recommended to keep them in a dedicated folder, such as a folder inside your Documents directory.
  2. Open MaCoPiX.
  3. Install the sitter using one of the following menu options:
    • Install > Mascot [User]
    • Open > Mascot [User]
  4. Select the desired .MCPX file to load the mascot.

While individual installs work, they are more prone to issues. If a .tar.gz version is available, please choose that instead, as it is much more convenient.
